The potatoes, asparagus, and garlic are all planted...

The mulch is down in the garden...

The lawn...well...that is another story...it's pretty bad:)...

The birds have occupied every bird house in the yard....and believe me...there are a LOT of them....

The mood is lifting due to the wonderful weather....

What have you been up to in the garden?

DaHliA CrAzy!

What an exciting time of year! Spring is always so much fun with all of the flower and garden shopping we can dive into. My mom is to blame for my newfound love of Dahlias. I always thought Dahlias only came in that little six inch annual version which I was never a big fan of. I like everything in the garden to be BIG! After seeing mom's Dahlias that stretched a minimum of four inches across and at least three feet tall in an assorted of bright colors, I decided to take the plunge this year. And boy did I ever! I can never do anything half way....much like my candle hobby that turned into a thriving business :)

Now back to Dahlias! Here are the wonderful Dahlias I have found this year and where I found them. If you like tall varieties with huge flowers, these will certainly be a hit for you!

These two beauties came from Menards:

These lovelies came from my own little slice of heaven during Spring - Lowes:

While I found these unusual bulbs at Meijer, they were also available at Menards for those who aren't in Michigan:

So....it's time for everyone to get out and get shopping for Spring! There's nothing better than "smelling dirt" - that's what my mom says. What have you bought so far?

Dog Bed Cover Delight!

I just had to take a moment to brag about yet another wonderful find on Etsy.com! I found a wonderful, high quality Duck Canvas dog bed cover that my pooch is going to love:) Here's hoping it keeps him off of the bed and couch!! It's washable, dryable, has no zippers, and even better...it just takes regular pillows.

Check out the full line of products here: http://bowwowbeds.etsy.com/.

Here's my sweetie:)

Recipe: Mesquite Chicken

Way back, I found a dish at a restaurant that I could not live without. I gleefully figured out how to make it myself and it's so yummy, I just have to share!

INGREDIENTS:

1 Package Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup Fresh Salsa or Pico de Gallo
Mesquite Seasoning
Barbeque Seasoning
Tortilla Strips - Seasoned

DIRECTIONS:

Season the Chicken Breasts top and bottom generously with both the Barbeque and the Mesquite Seasonings. Place in a glass dish and cook at 425 for approximately 30-35 minutes until cooked thoroughly.

Sprinkle the seasoned tortilla strips (typically found near the salad fixings in the grocery store) on your serving plates.

Place a chicken breast on each serving plate on top of the tortilla strips.

Top the chicken breast with sour cream and then the salsa.

Serve! It's that easy!
